Our name
refers to the rich spiritual heritage that God gave to Israel. The Bible speaks about Israel as a farmed olive tree, that is looked after by a careful grower. When Jesus came to the earth, he made it possible for non-Jews (gentiles) to find peace with God.
However, God never reneged on the promises he had made before that time to the Jewish people. He still loves them and has a plan to bring them together into a single union with those who are not Jews, but know and love Jesus.
Christians are described in the Bible as being like wild olive branches whom God grafts into the original olive tree. Don't take our word for it - read in the Bible, in the book of Romans, chapter 11. For this reason, we pray for Israel . We take both the ‘old' and the ‘new' parts of the Bible as a single book with one message that is just as valid today as it ever was.
